According
to the conduct of Imperial Sugar after the explosion, I trust that the company
employed clarity as a principle of effective communication. Hendrix et al.
(2012) explained that parties involved should have a clear message for the
target audience to eliminate misinterpretations following a disaster. Imperial
Sugar's management team simplified its communication, ensuring that the general
public understood the same thing it wanted to convey; therefore, appealing to
its emotions successfully.
Another
principle of effective communication that Imperial Sugar employed was
timeliness. Almost immediately after the incident, Imperial Sugar started
holding regular press conferences, disseminating correct information, and
correcting the record, minimizing confusion caused by misleading communications
(Earls, 2010). I understand that communication delays would affect the
relationship between the company and its stakeholders, especially during the
recovery phase after a crisis.

I were related to an Imperial Sugar employee, I would be contented with its
response since it provided adequate information. During the multiple press

Inadequate information would have subjected me to anxiety and confusion;
therefore, the constant news conferences would have ensured I remained calm as
the firm continued to deal with the explosion's aftermath.
