The model of Dennis Gilbert
and Joseph Kahl of social class classifies people into six social classes,
namely; The Capitalist, upper middle, lower middle, working, working poor, and
underclass. The model judges people considering family income, occupation, and
education level. The capitalist class is made of people with prestigious
education. Most people in this class are investors, heirs, and top executives.
They earn an income of more than $1 million and makeup 1 percent of the total
population. The capitalist class position benefit herein individuals is that their
family members get the best education and have high income and thus get private
schooling for their children. The capitalist has large amounts of capital for
investments and controls the economy at a greater percentage.
