with operations in developing foreign nations can positively and negatively
affect their political structures. On the one hand, MNCs may contribute to
economic development by creating jobs, providing new technology or knowledge
transfers, and contributing to positive political results; on the other hand,
however, MNCs may engage in exploitative practices, worsen inequality, and
influence decision-making leading to negative political consequences in host
nations.
MNCs operating in underdeveloped
foreign nations have the power to spur economic development by investing in
infrastructure development such as roads, ports, and power plants (Mishra &
Suar, 2019). MNCs also often invest in creating employment opportunities and
helping reduce unemployment rates while improving living standards for locals.
Furthermore, they transfer technology and knowledge, promoting technological
advances and fostering innovation, ultimately leading to economic development.
