The case of Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of California involved Poddar, a client of Dr Moore, a psychologist at a University of California hospital. Poddar had informed the psychologist of his intention to kill Tarasoff, but the doctors refuse to restrain Poddar or make necessary arrangement to warn Tarasoff of the impending danger. According to the duty to warn law of the United States, hospitals need to provide a warning to any party at danger are a result of an action by any of their patients, notwithstanding the confidentiality privilege. The case was determined that the physician had sufficient duty to warn the victim regarding the danger.
