Regulating a child behavior is a delicate
decision which requires an act of through scrutiny when doing the planning on
how to control and modify its behavior. It is very vital to understand the
specific set of the behaviors that the child has to help the response regulator
understand how well they can deal with it. Some theories have been developed
which aid in identifying when various types of behaviors can occur. Cooper
(1987), believes that age and growth are associated with behaviorist postulates
which make different behaviors in children to happen. Some kids' behaviors are
motivated by adolescence while other behave in certain ways based on how they
were brought up. Children that are raised in a disciplined way by their parents
are more likely to live a respectable and active life (Heron, Heward, &
Cooper, 1987).
The behavior depicted by the kid William
when interacting with his mate is wanting. This case targets to handle the
action of fighting other kids and the emerging negative response. This act happens
mostly when the students are at school during recess. William is intelligent
and manipulative and takes advantage of the break to showcase his behavior of
molesting his classmates. This clearly shows that the kid, despite being a
minor is aware of what he is doing and avoids the teacher’s confrontation by
practicing this bad behavior when the students are out playing. The teacher
might not be able to tame William’s behavior alone, but with the help of the
parent this act will be modified with success.
The first step in helping modify William’s
behavior is an understanding of how long has the boy behaved in that manner. It
will also be important to know what has been the parents’ effort to help tame
William’s behavior. Finally, an understanding of what has been the reaction
from the kid towards this interventions shul be sought. To assist modify the
boy’s behavior, I will also require noting whether any punishment measure has
been warranted towards this behavior. Lastly, I will seek to understand the relation
between William and other kids in the class. By conducting this kind of study,
I will be able to predict how to help the child and determine whether his case
is withdrawal or not (Raymond, 2011).
The act of scolding by the teacher has not
yield modification results to the kid since William seems stubborn or bitter
with certain factors such that he does not heed any intervention measure. The
reason for failure in the attempt to tame William’s behavior might be because
the kid is used to the scolding by his parents and the behavior might be a
normality (Austin & Carr, 2000). Most kids will respond positively to
canning rather than scolding which might make the teacher look less dangerous.
Kids commonly believe that the parents or the teachers looked more dangerous
when they use can which might be the same reasoning with William. With this
facts, the teacher might not have been able to regulate William’s behavior
through scolding.
The success of modifying behavior will highly depend on the method that is used to restore and solve the incoming behavior.
