Dillon, Grace. “Miindiwag and
Indigenous Diaspora: Eden Robinson’s and Celu Amberstone’s Forays into
“Postcolonial” Science Fiction and fantasy.”
The central theme of the article is that postcolonial era is rife to contradictory perspectives concerning the distribution of populations, acquisition of independence, and the sovereignty of nations. Dillon further investigated the idea of Native science fictions (SF) authors and contrasted the practice with that of the Aboriginals. Furthermore, in the article, the aspect of imperialism is predominate in the composure of many fictional stories. Dillon’s overriding desire was to analyze Native-written science fiction, “Terminal Avenue” and “Refugees.” In the first section, “Terminal Avenue,” the idea of Native sovereignty is predominate, but always associated with violence implication. The selected SF story revolves on the idea that Native peace officers were brutal to families, mostly those who did not share originality or those who seemed predominantly different.
