and Research case Study
The
theme of the case is based on medical research and the role it plays towards
equating people in a community. However, the portrayed research failed to
achieve an objective finding in solving cases of syphilis in the target
population. One of the main ethical issues that emerge from the study is the
postulation that black people could not be helped through education or
philanthropy. Additionally, the Negros were perceived as having strong desires
for sex, hence making them susceptible to syphilis. This shows a high incidence
of racism.
From the perspectives of the utilitarian theory, it can be concluded that the experiment portrayed in the case study lacks a greater good on a greater majority of people.
