CHS 230-01: Culture, Direct Service & Community Practice Research Paper: Paper: A Structural and Historical Analysis of Racism Underpinning the Human Services Profession. Utilizing the readings in weeks 3 and 4 of the course, students will write a 4 page paper defining a structural and historical analysis of racism and its significance for the human services profession. Included in the paper will be a theoretical framework, institutional issues and the changing context of worldview. In addition to the assigned readings, students will be required to include 2 additional references. A list of each student’s additional references will be compiled and provided to the class as a supplemental reading list they will take away from the course. Due: Week 5. Please address the following points: • Introduce the theories and main concepts associated with historical and structural racism • Describe multiple examples from class, assigned readings, and your own research (2 additional references) • Explore how examples have impacted the Human Services Profession • Include citations at the end of your paper
