1.0 Introduction

The most prominent hurdle facing most of the technology companies revolves around the ability of the human resource to acquire the right talent. In reality, talent acquisition is top of the list of every Global Talent Mobility HR Manager; this is despite the increasing rate of unemployment globally. A significant number of the technology companies experience difficulties in recruiting and retaining the right talent that can be able to extract value from the company investments as well as run the companies IT operations with due diligence. Consequently, according to Greene and Cheese (2008, p. 1), the shortage in talent has resulted in a global war of talent among technological companies. The development of new technologies has resulted in the transformation of the skills demanded, as well as the means utilized in the process of acquisition of the suitable talent. The significant change in talent acquisition has resulted in talent becoming an even-more-critical and complex issue facing the respective HR departments. The top management finds talent acquisition as a critical issue regarding the newly opened office in London. Nonetheless, Global Talent Mobility HR Manager possesses the experience to come up with various high-impact levers that can be used in talent acquisition.

2.0 Concepts of talent acquisition

2.1 Talent planning 

            Talent planning plays an essential role in the business strategy, as it dictates how a company positions itself in the global market so that to utilize and acquire the right talent as a way of maximizing competitive advantage. The technology industry is characterized by companies using talent planning as a foundation for effective succession planning. According to Armstrong and Taylor (2017), talent planning comprises of different job positions as well as employees across an organization. To gain an advantage in the technology industry, it is significant that talent planning is aligned with the objectives and goals of a company, as an ongoing process it involves replacing promoting, developing, selecting and planning. Presently, talent planning is characterized by different trendy approaches. For a company to ensure it runs an effective talent planning program, it is essential that the HR department understands the staffing levels and the skill set required.

 To acquire the right talent, the company must clearly focus on addressing the pertinent issues concerning the staffing levels, as such the company should:

i.      Identify the most significant problems in staffing and talent acquisition.

ii.     Under the HR department, the company should come up with strategies focusing on talent management that will efficiently provide a solution on issues affecting talent acquisition (Boxall and Purcell, 2015).

iii.    The senior leaders should craft a plan that will define the staffing issues while reflecting on the specific talent acquisition strategies.
