exports of light manufacturing industries, most specifically leather production
companies as the top priority. Tesfaye and Muchie (2016, p. 59) found out that
the production systems in most leather companies are characterized by low
productivity, considerable lead time, unreliable supply of raw material, a
significant inventory. Therefore, to streamline the supply chain management,
most of the companies opt for the hybrid-strategy as opposed to the old-dated
pull-strategy. The Coronado Leather, a
company based in San Diego, California is one of the most Original Branding
Manufacturers (OBM) to shift the supply chain from pull-strategy to
hybrid-strategy. After the shift, the company started purchasing raw materials
in large quantities so that to maximize the economies of scale. For that
reason, the hybrid strategy enables a company to solve its production systems
problems.
The
implementation of hybrid-strategy enables the company to benefit by
considerably reducing its extensive inventory and subsequent costs. This results
in the company attaining greater flexibility in adapting to the significant
shifts as a result of market forces. According to Tesfaye and Muchie (2016, p. 66),
the hybrid strategy is widely useful in the present day competitive supply
