Professional Identity

Professional identity is an essential subject not only to the medical practitioners but to all parties that play role in promoting human health such as counselors. In the process of taking this course, various aspects have played a vital role in promoting my personal identity as a future counselor. First, leaning professional identity has enabled me to improve my status and esteem. For example, by learning my values, I can hold high regards about my ability and that of others, hence promoting self-esteem (Yazdannik et al., 2012). Secondly, by taking an active part in the learning process, I have gained a sense of belonging and attachment to my immediate surrounding hence it will make me a better counselor (Franziska et al., 2011).  Third, the course has been instrumental since it has enabled me to gain mastery in improving on my professional identity.
