Introduction
This report analyzes a
15-year-old boy's view on education. Adolescence is a critical stage in
development; 15-year-old boys represent this transitional stage between
childhood and adulthood as they experience essential shifts in social,
cognitive, and emotional growth. To gain a clearer insight into this topic, it
was decided to conduct a conversation with one from a public day school who consented
to be interviewed at his home for this report.
Background
The adolescent male aged 15 attends an all-day
public school as his preferred institution since beginning his education.
Currently, in 10th Grade, this suburban district school boasts a diverse
student body from middle-class families that consist of himself, his parents,
and younger siblings. Academic performance for this student was outstanding,
and they expressed an interest in becoming scientists. He joined his school's
debate club and robotics team. Additionally, they enjoyed sports such as
playing basketball and soccer during their free time. The interview took place
at the student's home, with both him and his parents giving their consent for
it to occur in his bedroom, an intimate setting for him. The interviewer
discussed its purpose and benefits before ensuring he understood and consented
to participate. At that point, the participant showed great enthusiasm, easily
sharing thoughts and experiences regarding his educational process.
Interview Summary
This adolescent reported having great relationships with his fellow students at school, including having close personal friends with whom he likes spending time both in and outside school settings. His school's inclusive and positive environment has enabled him to form meaningful friendships among its student body. The attitude of Adolescents toward School was generally positive.
