Individual Assignment: Conduct a telephone/video interview with a business owner/manager. (For health and safety reasons it should not be in-person). Draft a double-spaced ½ page summary identifying the interviewee (the business owner/manager), the nature of the business and, most importantly, current business legal questions raised by the interviewee. Ultimately, the purpose of the interview is to find out what legal information the interviewee wishes he/she knew. For instance, interviewees may have questions about hiring/firing, real estate, lawsuits, debt collection, etc. The interview may be of any business owner/manager of your choice. It may be a family member, friend, employer, or someone you have never met before. You cannot, of course, interview yourself. When choosing which person to interview, take into consideration that the issues raised by the interviewee will be the basis of your Group Paper. If the interviewee provides no legal issues, it would be advisable to interview another person. After Module I when all interviews have been submitted, each group should share information regarding the interview and choose which interviewee’s legal issue(s) will be the subject of the Group Paper.
