I believe that the suggestions of Thomas Paine were
dominant as they provoked the discussion about the fight for independence. He inspired the formation of powerful
movements that would support colonies to work towards self-governance (Foner).
The pamphlet was influential since Thomas wrote it for the American populace
and spoke against the oppressive rule of Great Britain. In a single document, Paine
alluded that the independence movement should unite with the local people,
acting as a precursor to the American Revolution.
