Diabetes is a metabolic disease responsible for causing high blood sugar. The condition interferes with the body's ability to manufacture sufficient insulin that facilitates the conversion of excess sugar into glucagon-a form in which sugar can be stored in the body tissues (Tanenbaum et al., 2016). With insufficient insulin, most of the body sugar is left suspended in the blood, causing high blood pressure. Untreated high blood sugar emanating from diabetes can destroy the kidney, nerves, eye, and other body organs. There are four types of diabetes name; gestational diabetes, prediabetes, type 1, and type two diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is understood as an autoimmune state in which the body's immune system mistakenly destroys pancreatic cells, which are responsible for creating sugar-regulating hormones-insulin. Once the pancreas beta cells are destroyed, the condition is irreversible.
