The American dream is an ethos philosophy entrenched in the achievement of economic prosperity and upwards social mobility that the American people need. The idea of this dream is to, one day, have better opportunity systems for all Americans and promote upward growth for its people. The play, The Great Gatsby, is an intriguing medieval act that contains several indications of the characters' efforts toward achieving the American Dream. However, the actions of these participants often fail due to a lack of cohesion and solidarity. The social atmosphere in the play goes against most of the confines of the American dream, hence complicating the probability of portrayed a perfectly achievable dream juxtaposed from the play to modern-day America.
