·      Thesis: The social level depicted in The Great Gatsby has a low possibility of supporting the American dream due to high immorality, materialism, lack of education, racism, and negative capitalism.

·      First, social immorality in Gatsby's play proves that the American dream cannot be attained as far as so many people remain below the poverty line.

·      Second, the culture of materialism in The Great Gatsby play further explains how the American dream could not be attained.
