Personal Statement-To Purse Public Health Worker

My desire to pursue public health was motivated, mostly, by personal life experiences during my young age. I used to see some of my community members frequently visiting a nearby local nutrition center to seek guidance on a diet, mostly, for the sake of their young ones. During that time, I did not have a clear understanding of the lack of proper nutrition knowledge and its implications on the future growth and development of a human being. It was not until my second year of study when I faced reality regarding the lack of adequate knowledge of diabetes raising from poor diet and unhealthy lifestyles. It happened that my dad and uncle got diagnosed with diabetes which worried me because, since my tender age, I thought diabetes was a disease for rich people or those with related ailments such as heart conditions. I consider this real-life experience as the most transformative moment which made me purse training in public health.
