Juvenile Justice & Criminal Justice

The juvenile justice system in the United States is meant to intervene the criminal behavior through court, police, and correctional involvement. The goal of the juvenile justice system is solely to rehabilitate and receive back juveniles who are reformed (Gaines & Miller, 2021). Guardians and the youth face different consequences, including community service, youth court, alternative schooling, and youth incarceration. The general assumption is that early intervention in the juvenile system would prevent the youth from engaging in criminal activities when they turn to adulthood. In both the juvenile and the criminal justice system, constitutional rights are fully applied. As I have highlighted, the juvenile courts draw one major difference in that the object of the criminal justice system is to punish as the juvenile seeks to rehabilitate
