The juvenile justice system in the United States is
meant to intervene the criminal behavior through court, police, and
correctional involvement. The goal of the juvenile justice system is solely to
rehabilitate and receive back juveniles who are reformed (Gaines
& Miller, 2021). Guardians and the youth face different
consequences, including community service, youth court, alternative schooling,
and youth incarceration. The general assumption is that early intervention in
the juvenile system would prevent the youth from engaging in criminal
activities when they turn to adulthood. In both the juvenile and the criminal
justice system, constitutional rights are fully applied. As I have highlighted,
the juvenile courts draw one major difference in that the object of the
criminal justice system is to punish as the juvenile seeks to rehabilitate
