It is common knowledge that politics can be described as local, for that reason both state and federal law get to affect various lives in many different ways (Greve, 133). The federal system advocates for a balance between federal and state law. As a result, power should be surrendered to the people by being divided between federal and state authority so that to create a balance of power that would establish a platform where two distinct governments perform checks and balances on each other. The federal government is granted authority by the United States Constitution over specific areas albeit with unlimited powers. On the other hand, according to Litman (1289), the state government ensures that the other areas are well governed.
