1.0 Introduction

The grounded theory leads to the idea of emergence, where this thought can be described as an unpredictable, distinctive observable fact that cannot arise from the summation of its parts. According to Levers (2013), there are various frameworks regarding epistemology and ontology that can be used to illustrate the different paradigms namely, interpretivist, constructivist and postpositivist. The journal tries to establish the basis that can support the discussion concerning the paradigms, thus leading to the emergence of the typology that can efficiently be used to explain the difference in variation. In reality, the change in the conceptualization of the thought of emergence is dependent on paradigms. The author tries to be more direct in analyzing the unique phenomenon in the discussion by merging the conversation on the paradigms with the ground theories. The ground theory has three adaptation for instance, "original version is presented as fitting within the postpositivist paradigm, the second version fitting with the constructionist paradigm, and the third version fitting with the interpretivist paradigm” (Livers, 2013). The author focuses on discussing the paradigms at different levels as well the effect of the same on the concept of emergence. As a result, the author explains the idea of emergence in grounded theory.

2.0 Paradigms

According to Levers (2013), it is of the essence to acknowledge that paradigms comprise of epistemology and ontology. Indeed the two components complement each other, with ontology focusing on being while epistemology aims at explaining reality, by illustrating what is. Denzin and Lincoln (2005) argue that these paradigms are characterized by different assumptions. Thus, it is apparent that the author takes a position concerning his perception of what the reality constitutes being as well as defines reality. In real life, context epistemology can be used to explain the forms and nature of knowledge. For that reason, the assumption under epistemology revolves around illustrating the creation, acquisition and the utilization of knowledge. In real life context, it is assumed that epistemology revolves around asking the question, as such explaining the relationship that exists between knowledge and the acquirer of that knowledge. Hence, it can be agreed that epistemological and ontological assumptions are the factors that each paradigm is established on, and so, each paradigm can be proven empirically considering the assumption are speculate.

However, the author points out that these paradigms can be described differently since they possess different views relating to the epistemological and ontological perspectives. Therefore, it is essential to recognize that the research on these paradigms differs from one another regarding reality and knowledge. The author states that research on these paradigms can be enabled with either qualitative or quantitative data. According to Levers (2013) regarding the real-life context, it is imperative to recognize that things do not exist independent of an individuals mind, for that reason it can be assumed that the world is created from the thoughts that people hold. Under ontology different perspectives can...
