You are required to do this
Step 1: Prepare your
introduction (introduction section 650 words)
The Introduction should be a more developed version of all the sections in the
outline with appropriate transitions between each of the sections (you will
build on what you turned in for Research Proposal, part 1).
This should be written in paragraph format (i.e., not dot points). Your introduction should
cover the following areas:
1. Background to the research area
2. Review of previous literature
3. Study rationale
4. Aim of the study
5. Hypothesis
Step 2: Prepare your method (Method section 350 words)
The Method section should include these subsections:
1. Participants
o Describe your proposed participants (for example, sample size, age, gender)
and the sampling technique you propose to use to recruit them (for example,
convenience sampling).
o Identify your minimum sample size (use the sample size guidelines to identify
your sample size, as discussed in the Module 4 live class).
2. Design
o Define the dependent and independent variables (or the predictor and outcome
variables for a correlational study)
o If groups will be compared, state the levels of the independent variable and
whether the design is between-subjects (independent-measures) or
within-subjects (repeated-measures)
3. Materials
o This subsection describes how you will measure your variables.
o Include any tests used and how they will be scored
4. Procedure
o This subsection should describe the exact procedure the participants went
through, with enough detail for another researcher to replicate the
procedure.
? State whether participants will be informed of the study's purpose.
o
? Describe the research method you plan to use and explain how you will employ
this method.
o
? If relevant, explain how participants will be assigned to different
conditions.
? Explain exactly what participants will be requested to do (that is, provide
sufficient detail for someone else to replicate the study).
Although the 1000-word limit is a strict limit for the whole assignment, the
following suggestions will help you split your word count between the sections.
Note that your References page does not count toward the word count, although
the in-text citations do.

INTRODUCTION
1.0 Background history
Abnormal
psychology can simply be defined as a science that incorporates the study of
abnormal patterns exhibited by individuals in the society (Cyril & George 2017); normally these
patterns are manifested in the form of mannerisms and thoughts (Vikram, 2017).
As a result, according to Christopher (2017) abnormal behavior has been
subdivided into three distinct classes namely; A, B and C. In reality, Class A
consists of individuals who exhibit paranoia and schizophrenia characteristics,
for example, bizarre and eccentric persons. Additionally, Class B incorporates
individuals who are regarded as antisocial, narcissistic and erratic. To
further add on that, Class C consists of individuals’ psychiatrists’ diagnosed
with anxiety and fearfulness (Cyril & George
2017).
For
one thing, according to Lindsey (2017), the National Health Review conducted a
research between 2006 and 2014 that revealed shocking statistics that
eventually proved that more Americans have developed mental problems at an
alarming rate. Further, the data collected pointed out that over 8 million
American adults representing approximately 3.5 percent of the American
population suffer from mental distress. According to Sloan (2017), the World Health Organization (WHO) after carrying out
extensive research across the world over a longer period of time has also come
up with the same conclusion that reveals there is an exponential increase in
mental disorders. Therefore, it is vital to acknowledge the existence of
mental disorders for that reason the relevant agencies can be able to support
and fund research into causes and mitigation measures of mental disorders. For
example, counseling therapy, pharmacotherapy complemented by an approach that
incorporates both physical, medical and counseling therapy.
1.1 Literature review
Vikram (2017) over a long period of
time, psychiatrists have worked around the clock and established distinct
approaches that can be utilized in the treatment of mental disorders. Some of
the approaches used mono-therapy that utilizes various forms of therapy, for
instance, psychopharmaceuticals or counseling therapy. However, according to
Lindsey (2017), it should be recognized that some approaches combine both
psycho-pharmaceuticals and counseling therapy to offer treatment to patients
suffering from mental disorders. Additionally, the US Library of National
Medicine published findings of a study conducted in 2009 that revealed the
treatment approaches that combined the use of behavioral and pharmacotherapy in
treating patients suffering from mental disorders, for example, depression was
more efficient as opposed to monotherapy (Christopher, 2017; Sloan, 2017).
1.2 Study rationale.
Accordingly, this paper
based-dissertation will aim at establishing and further explaining the effectiveness
of combining both psycho-pharmaceuticals and counseling therapy in offering
treatment to patients suffering from mental disorders between the age of 35 to
45. Further, this study will be “inspired by the realization that previous
studies were biased thus only highlighting geriatrics and mental disorder among
adolescents” (Sloan, 2017). Therefore, this research proposal will seek to
exploit the existing gap and provide insight by explaining the various
available medical and therapeutic interventions that are utilized in the
treatment of mental disorders.
