You will read three short chapters from the Envisioning World Civilizations. This reader accompanies the textbook Custom Hansen Voyages in World History Brief.  The link to the text can be found on your canvas home page under modules.  You should have received a code for access to these features when you signed up for the class.  First access the link to Custom Hansen Voyages. This will open the main textbook.  On the left side of your screen you will see all of the chapters available in the text.  Scroll all the way to the bottom.  Two down after chapter 32 you will see a button titled Envisioning World Civilizations.  Click on that button and that opens a WHOLE NEW BOOK.  Within that book you will see a list of chapters.  Scroll to the appropriate chapter and click on it and you will see the readings.For “written assignment” you will need to read the following three short chapters:Chapter 2.3 “Book of Exodus” (Ten Commandments); chapter 3.1 Buddha, “First Sermon at Benares;” and chapter 3.6 “The Bhagavad-Gita.”  After reading the chapters you will produce a written paper of at least three typewritten pages comparing and contrasting how Judaism (Exodus) Buddhism (Sermon at Benares) and Hinduism (Bhagavad-Gita) wanted their followers to live BASED ON THE READINGSEach paper should have an introduction and a thesis followed by a body of the paper that proves the thesis using appropriate quotes from the readings and then a conclusion.
