Writing Assignment 2: Different Types of Traps

The first trap, as identified by Paul Collier, is the conflict trap. The trap seems to be embedded in the fabric of any community and continues to be a tall order on development. In essence, Paul Collier acknowledges that conflict exists in many forms, not only in the political rivalry. For example, violence among members of a particular community may affect the effort and focus of a particular government towards instilling development in such regions. However, Paul Collier further acknowledges that conflict trap can be of international in nature and gives the example of Civil and the implications it had on the world at large (Collier, 2007).
