The eastern parts of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been faced with the constant emergence of rebel movements leading to a full-scale military crisis. The plight of DRC has often been ignored by the rest of the world thus leading to disconnect of DRC from social and political realities (CFR, 2016). For that reason, DRC is regarded as a failed state due to a variety of reasons, most notably the systematic corruption, lack of sovereignty and economic reforms.

As a consequence, DRC government has failed to institute sustainable economic reforms. This is because of poor widespread changes in the government that fail to target top Congolese officials who benefit from maintaining DRC as a dysfunctional state. It is imperative to note that the DRC government has also failed to set up a manufacturing sector that would provide competing for revenue to boost the ailing economy.
