Why Elias was a such an Enduring Symbol of Italian Migration Experience?
Ellis Island has a lot of significance when the history of immigration is pertained to. The island served as an immigration station in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. When the Italians left their homes, they had hopes that they could get jobs on arrival, something that changed, and misery set in (73). The island station was operational for a period of 60 years until it was closed in 1954. The island is at the “mouth” of the Hudson River between New Jersey and New York.
