Every county across the globe has a set minimum drinking age (MLDA) below which persons are prohibited from taking alcoholic drinks. Many European countries have set their MLDA at 18 years, which is also applied by most countries worldwide. The 50 states making up the USA operate under the highest MLDA globally, which is set at 21 years of age (Hingson & White, 2014).  Several studies have been conducted and concerns raised for several years over whether MLDA should be lowered or raised. Generally, strong drinks are made for mature and grown-up people; therefore, drinking age should be raised. High drinking ages would reduce accident fatalities and teen suicide, allow youth to develop into responsible and dependable people in the future.
