What strategies does Douglass use to continue his education after his mistress's abandonment?
After being forbidden from reading by his mistress, Douglass devises new ways that can enable him to continue his education. For example, while in Baltimore he enlists the services of the poor white boys who aid him in learning while he provides bread for them. Besides, Douglass manages to acquire books that contain helpful learning information written by outstanding writers such as Cicero, and such books included The Columbian Orator. He continues to learn how to read and write through labeling and copying letters written by sailors; further, he challenges the educated white boys to write down letters so that he could see and copy them.
