INSTRUCTIONS:
In the documentary produced back in 2004 by PBS: "Frontline - The Persuaders" the producer/host David Rushkoff asks the question: "Do the words used help the public see the issue more clearly or do they disguise it?" He uses the examples of "Anti-abortion" vs. "Pro Life" and "Global Warming" vs. "Climate Change". In the current crisis that is facing the nation in Washington DC with the storming of the Capitol and the Congress, and the transfer of power in the Executive Branch of government, give at least two examples of how specific things are described differently by groups of people with vastly different opinions and beliefs. Explain how the words are used and presented, try to influence the people reading, listening or watching messages created and distributed by those various groups. DO you think this use of language actually works? Why? https://www.pbs.org/video/frontline-persuaders/
