identification laws do not protect all American citizens. Parts of the flexible
federal laws on voting allow eligible citizens to vote. Others are rigid as they
excluded a significant portion of the American population from voting. The
strict voter identification laws effectively prevent many Americans from
voting.
Determined efforts have targeted the implementation of strict voter identification laws that restrict people from voting. As a result, these attempts have led to the enactment of 8 new laws that require eligible Americans to provide forms of identification before voting.
