Unplugged: The Myth of Computers in the Classrooms:

Locate a metaphor or simile within the essay

SOLUTION:

Metaphor

A metaphor is an element of figurative speech that is used to imply comparison, where a word utilized of one thing is used to refer to another. In his essay, Unplugged: The Myth of Computers in the Classroom, David Gelernter uses the phrase ‘surrogate teachers’ in reference to the use of computers. Regarding the essay the phrase means that computers can be used as a tool of learning or as a mean to aid in teaching but cannot be used to replace teachers; so computers should not substitute the role of teachers. As a result, David Gelernter argues that computers should be limited to recess or relaxation periods.
