The research paper will be a synthesis of research on a specific manifestation of child abuse or neglect, with an illustrating example, closing with an effective intervention based on the family's strengths and needs.  As a benchmark assignment and a significant portion of your final grade, there are built-in tasks/deadlines to help you complete the full paper noted in the syllabus. The paper should be double-spaced, with 1” margins, and the main body of the paper should be 8-10 pages in length (not including the cover page/references).  There should be at least 10 references to scholarly books/journal articles, not including the assigned textbook. Research support must come from peer-reviewed empirical articles or scholarly books (e.g., Wikipedia is NOT peer-reviewed). The paper should adhere to APA formatting, including properly formatted title and reference pages. APA formatting and writing quality (grammar, punctuation, spelling, organization, etc.) will affect the grade of the research paper so be sure to proofread your work and seek assistance if needed.
