Although the political party systems in America experienced many changes from Washington to Lincoln, they can generally be characterized as descendants of either Jefferson or Hamilton.  Explain the different general political philosophies of the two, and how their ideas were handed down in the first, second, and third party systems.  Discuss political figures and/or political parties that held these views, and also specific policies they supported.
