INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Read the introductory material on The Hebrew Bible pp. 145-147 and the introductory material on The Book of Job pp. 149 – 151 (Vol. A). 2. Read The Book of Job pp. 187 – 212. 3. Write a five paragraph essay-Introduction, Three body paragraphs with each paragraph on a different theme of The Book of Job, Conclusion. Include at least three quotes from the text of Job for each body paragraph for a total of nine quotes following the pattern below and cite the quotes MLA style. Include a Works Cited Entry for your textbook. Google Purdue OWL: MLA Formatting and Style Guide for help with formatting MLA style. Use YOUR ideas; do not use other sources. Some writing reminders-Write in third tense; do not use “I” or “we” or “you.” If you are referring to yourself, use “this writer.” Instead of “you,” use “the reader.” A theme is not one word. Write in 12 font in WORD. This essay is worth 150 pts. Follow the following pattern: ---First Paragraph – background on the book of Job ---Three body paragraphs – each paragraph should follow the following pattern: - Topic sentence with theme -Quote from the book of Job that supports that theme (Be sure to document it correctly MLA style.) - Two sentences of commentary or explanation connecting the mentioned in the topic sentence and the quote - Second quote - Two sentences of commentary or explanation connecting the theme mentioned in the topic sentence and the quote - Third quote - Two sentences of commentary or explanation connecting the theme mentioned in the topic sentence and the quote --- Last paragraph – at least two sentences concluding your paper. If you are struggling, repeat the three themes. Be sure and do not include your opinion or a moral tag.
