WHAT: “In what ways do “single stories” impact our own identities, how we view others, and the choices we make?” 1. If helpful, you can think about ‘single stories’ that have been told about you 2. If helpful, you can also think about various quotes that the speaker said that stood out to you. 3. If helpful, you can use any of the many news stories of 2020/2021 (COVID-19, racial injustice, policing in America, election issues, insurrection on the Capitol, Supreme Court, etc) and think about the single stories that you have heard and how they have affected your thinking on an issue. 2. SO WHAT? How is this related to the core concepts of public health: ‘evidence-based decision making’ and ‘health equity’? 3. NOW WHAT: How can you avoid believing any single story or letting single stories drive the work that you do?
