INSTRUCTIONS:
This is a five-paragraph essay assignment that compares and contrasts any two of the stories taken up in class in terms if setting, characters, plot, and theme. Students may select any three of these elements of the short story. The reading selections include and are limited to "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Tell-tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe, "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner, "The Story of nan Hour" by Kate Chopin," and "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson.
