The
purpose of this essay is to investigate the arguments for and against
Montessori methodology to ascertain its imposition on the mode delivery in the
teaching curriculum. Montessori argues that each child has a unique development
cycle that requires a slightly different approach when delivering educational
contents to them. In this technique, the teacher only acts as a guide to the
various activities that the children in the classroom will be engaged in.
Montessori lecturer is most evidently going to offer guidance rather than
providing the handouts, lecture notes, lesson plans, and worksheets.
Montessori
is a movement in the modern education system that put emphasis to tutors to
view classroom and children education relationship different as compared to the
common student-teachers relation. It put more focus on encouraging children
differently by giving them a chance to acquire and nurture social, emotional
and environmental skills rather than emphasizing on academically acquired
education only. This technique is mostly applied at the tender levels in the
child’s development at the pre-school to ensure the child can be introduced to
the relevant study content.

Experts,
parents, and educators are always in the front line to scrutinize the education
systems that are taking lead in the society. It, therefore, become important
for the children to be passed through a system that best serve their different
and unique capabilities in pursuit for their future aspiration. For achievement
of this goal, a critical eye should be focused on methods, techniques, and
philosophies of education that support the current generation and the changing
environment.
This
method has been the subject of criticism over a long period of time. Most of
the naysayers argue that there lack enough opportunity in group engagement for
social growth and interaction. The relationship in these classes is more
intense as compared school based system. The interaction in the traditionally
based classrooms is not more spontaneous than in the Montessori structures.
This make the student be viewed as individuals and the rigidity has been
removed making the students stray and exercise more freedom on their own.
Montessori
faces further criticism that it triggers creativity quell and overuse the
students cognitive thinking leading to spending too much time on the practical
life. With a very early introduction of this methodology, the formative age of
the student my hastened making to the student to adopt a practice that does not
reflect their future potential. Since most children at the tender age tend to
imitate the environment, it becomes unhealthy for the children to be exposed
with clear theoretical guidance in a well-structured traditional classroom.
