You have read four very different views of superheroes and their relationship with mythology and modern culture. Let’s ponder some basic questions raised by these texts. Is it positive or negative (or something else) to indulge in superhero myths? If it’s positive, does it matter how superheroes are represented? Also, are mythical heroes the same as superheroes? Looking back on the hero myths you have read, would you (or maybe you already did this!), put some in the category of superhero/hero and some in the category of just plain hero? Or are you thinking about this classification in a different way. Write a 1-2 page reflection paper, and, attempt to address these questions by sharing your own ideas. Also, be sure to address some of the specific arguments and ideas addressed in each text. In addition to that ... bonus ... also bring in a superhero who has not been discussed in the readings we’ve done. This should feel like a mini, informal essay, or just a long reflection.
