INSTRUCTIONS:
Assignment: The final assignment is to write an 8-10 page strategic plan for your selected company (the company you have been focused on throughout this course). Include the following sections within your paper: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY. After you have written the other sections of your paper, go back and write a summary of approximately 250 words that provides a highlight of the key details from the rest of your paper. COMPANY MISSION STATEMENT. Copy and paste the company’s mission, vision, values statement or current strategy here. INDUSTRY AND COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS. Identify the current industry your company works within, key competitors, its market share, competitive forces, and its competitive advantages. SWOT ANALYSIS. You may use information submitted in your previous assignments, but you may not just copy and paste. At the end of this section, write a paragraph making a statement about the company’s situation and the implications for strategy improvement that is derived from the SWOT. RECOMMENDED STRATEGIC PLAN OF ACTION. Based on the information you identified in the industry and competitive analysis section and the SWOT analysis section, make recommendations on how the company can make a strategic change. Be specific with your recommendations (ie. describe the new target market that you suggest the company should penetrate or the technology the company could integrate or pricing strategy). Which generic strategy will you use? What are the resources, capabilities and skills needed to execute the plan? Does it include any horizontal or vertical scope? What are the risks involved in the plan of action you are suggesting? What are the benefits? MARKETING PLAN. How will you communicate or market your strategic plan to consumers? Think about the 4 P’s of marketing: Does the product fit the target market? What pricing strategy will you use? What promotion or advertising strategy will you use? What place will your product be sold? (Some of the 4 Ps may or may not relate to the strategic recommendation that you are making. That is okay. Just be sure to think through how each of them relates to the strategic plan you are suggesting and write about your marketing plan in this section.) GOALS. Recommend five B.S.M.A.R.T. goals (bold, specific, measureable, actionable, realistic, and time bound) that the company could implement in the next five years that align with the strategic opportunity identified in the previous section. Here are some examples: Have 50 customers signed up for monthly subscriptions with their credit card on file by March 2020. Open new brick-and-mortar store by October 2020. Build internet sales to be 50% of gross revenues by 2023. FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS. Using an Excel spreadsheet, include proformas (projections) of how much your strategic idea will cost and how much income you think it will bring to the company. Use as much detail as you can. REFERENCES. Use APA formatting to cite your sources. Details: Length: 8-10 pages double-spaced, excluding the cover page, executive summary, and reference pages, formatted in APA style. Cover Page containing: Title of Paper, Your Name, Course Number and Name, Professor’s Name and Date. Introductory Paragraph: setting forth a clear statement of your thesis. Conclusion: a concise statement that reaffirms your thesis. References: At least 7 quoted references to scholarly articles. Documentation: All sources must be documented on a separate reference page, using APA format.
