Should Organ Donation after Death be Made Automatic or Not?

Organ donation is a surgical process that involves the removal of body organs from one person to another person. Rieu (2010) asserts that the subject of organ donation has received much attention depicted through different forms of expression such as lobbying. Organ donation can be viewed either as moral or ethical dilemma: nonetheless, it is more sensible for human beings to agree to organ and tissue donation after death. Some of the functional body organs or tissues of an individual can be donated by through donor postmortem. Organ donation helps in the prevention of loss of life for the patients with organ failure, therefore, the practice should be permitted in the society.

            First, automatic donation of tissue and body organs should be made automatic to preserve life. A postmortem donor plays a significant role in saving of lives since "as a donor you may save up to 8 lives through organ donation and enhance many others through tissue donation" (Guden et al., 2013). Providing body organs aids in the survival of patients who might find it difficult to survive due to organ failure or sickness, thus providing them a possibly sustainable life should be highly welcomed.
