Semios Bio Project Management

INSTRUCTIONS:

Scenario: Imagine you are a Project Manager of Semios ( https://semios.com/) – Vancouver, BC Deliverables: Do some research online and determine what you think their top 2 major Corporate Objectives should be.  You should already know how to find this out: use Annual Reports, online articles, speeches or statements from the CEO or other executives, etc.  Be creative.  THIS IS NOT THE MISSION OR VISION STATEMENT; do not discuss these.  Here you asked to only discuss what their top two Corporate Objectives should be (like we talked about in Week 2).  Extra points will be given based on the amount of research that you actually perform to determine what you think their top two Corporate Objectives should be.  [15% of grade] 1.      Out of the two Corporate Objectives you’ve identified in #2 above, choose what you think is the most important one.  Explain WHY you think this Corporate Objective is the most important one and why it should be tackled first.  [15% of grade] 2.      Define the project based on accomplishing the Corporate Objective you have chosen: o   Define the Project Scope o   Create the Work Breakdown Structure.  There is no need to provide budget/cost or time estimates, but I do expect you to put some thought and effort in breaking down the project into level one, level two, and level three tasks and showing an appropriate amount of detail when you break the project down into smaller parts.  There are many, many examples of proper work breakdown structures you can find online – in addition to those we covered in class – so you should already have a good idea of how to perform this step.  [30% of grade] 3.      Identify the top 2 risks that this project is exposed to.  What steps would you take to mitigate/avoid/transfer/retain those risks?  [25% of grade] 4.      Pick one of the identified risks and create a contingency plan should that risk materialize.  [15% of grade] 5.      No conclusion is necessary. Format: ·        Create bullet points (remember as I said in class many times: the key to being an effective Project Manager is to be direct, detailed and yet to-the-point in your communications with all stakeholders).  Every point you make should be backed up with either a supporting fact, an argument, or some kind of justification.  ·        THE ASSIGNMENT MUST BE SINGLE SPACED ·        YOU CANNOT choose a project that the real-life company is already engaged in – that is a form of plagiarism.  ·        Total length should be about 1,750 words – but YOU MUST BE CONCISE.  I’m looking for an “information-dense” paper.
