Science News Topic: NASA lander captures sounds of Martian Wind.

For the first time in history, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has launched a lander which can capture the sound of the Martian wind. According to the aerospace writer, Marcia Dunn, the jet propulsion recorded the blowing wind at 10 to 15 mph which was the first sound to be recorded in human history from outer space and analyzed to be detectable by human ears. The news article indicates that there is low pressure in Mars leading to low frequencies of the moving air hence complicated the human endeavor to measure the motion of the wind with accuracy. Martian wind is considered as having seismic wavelengths and threshold such that human beings cannot hear the noise. However, through this scientific breakthrough by NASA, scientists have been able to analyze the quality of the Martian wind, and come to an agreement that the sound has other related worldly qualities just like the sound of moving air on the earth (U.S.News).
