Roots of American Society

I agree with the authors on many things, but the indifference comes in when the authors consider America as a "consumer-oriented" (7) nation. I think America is doing pretty good on the production of industrial inputs as well as consumer goods. For example, the United States leads in the production of steel, automobiles, consumer goods, and not forgetting food processing. All these contribute to significant growth in the American economy. Therefore, I think American is fairly balanced between consumption and production and the opinion of the authors, that America mainly consumes, seems inaccurate mostly with the increased industrialization all over the country.

The reading was delightful. Specifically, the authors use facts without bias when explaining Americans consuming behavior. Reading both sides of the debate makes the module exciting and educative.
