Question: Compare Cicero's observations on democracy in the Roman Republic, to those of Alexis de Tocqueville on American Democracy in the nineteenth century. On what points do you believe they agreed? In what ways do you think they differed. In your opinion, what aspects of democracy in Rome were still in place in the modern United States?
