Every
school has its unique style of working which contributes to its culture.
According to Martinez et al. (2015), culture is formed from the values,
principles, ideologies, and beliefs of characterizing a specific organization
or an institution. As a community, the behavior of the staff, as well as that
of the students of Hillside High School, is controlled by the culture around
the school complemented by the outside community. However, as the newly appointed
principal of the school after conducting an extensive evaluation of the school
culture it is apparent that it is unhealthy and negative. For example, around
the school, there is a sense of lack of focus, departmental autonomy, and poor
motivation. This reveals that the school does not have a proper working plan
hence having to deal with the reality of disorganization. As a consequence,
there is an urgent need that the school community comes together so that to
improve its organizational culture.
