Clowning is a common misbehavior among students in the classroom. Most students lack self-esteem, so they clown in class to get attention from their peers. Allowing clowning students to participate is an effective way of responding to clowning behavior to get attention. According to Barnett (2018), calling upon humorous students to participate gives them a stage to perform constructively and build their confidence that they have something constructive they can offer their peers. Also, assisting clowning students in performing better can save them from falling behind the class and refrain from clowning to draw attention (Pozsonyi & Soulstein, 2019).
