INSTRUCTIONS:
Tarantino’s fascination with gruesome and over the top violence, blood, torture, etc:Scalping, bludgeoning, the massacre in Inglorious Basterds; gut wounds, Shakespearean deathmatches, and ear removal in Reservoir Dogs; all of Django Unchained and The Hateful 8. Why?The subject matter he addresses slavery, Nazism, bank robbery all involve violence. What commentary does this put forth on society? Could it be suggested that our vicarious living through the violence of his movies keeps us from going in that direction; or, do they go so far that they encourage violence?
