 Problem Statement:

Examining how employees perceive their workplace environment and understand what motivates them to remain with an organization is driven by the recognition that employee turnover can be costly and disruptive; understanding what factors contribute to employee retention is key to understanding why employees leave organizations first place. The goal of this assignment: Design a qualitative research study that explores these issues more deeply with particular emphasis on perceptions and motivations of employees as well as existing research/scholarly sources to provide insights into improving retention rates and creating more positive work environments for organizations.

Purpose Statement:

To explore employee perceptions and motivations related to their work environment and retention to provide insights for organizations seeking to improve employee retention and create a positive work environment.

Research Questions: 

1.      What key factors influence employee perceptions of their work environment and motivation to stay with the organization?

2.      How do employees perceive the organization's efforts to improve retention and create a positive work environment, and what suggestions do they have for improvement?

Methodology & Justification:

Qualitative research, an approach used for investigating complex phenomena by collecting and analyzing non-numerical data such as words, images, and observations (Creswell, 2014), is chosen as the methodology of this study. Qualitative research can provide rich and in-depth information regarding employee perceptions and motivations related to work environments and retention by gathering this data through interviews, focus groups, or observations and then analyzing them to answer research questions...
