Reflection using Gibbs’ Models

Description
During
the summer holiday, I attended field placement in a psychiatry field where I
was responsible for proving care to patients. One particular patient, Mr. Khan,
was very aggressive, and he had suicidal thoughts. I called the psychiatrist on
duty. He injected the patient with excess Haloperidol medicine and used an
excessive force on the patient to a point where he fell.
Feelings
I
was acutely suppressing by this turn of events since I did not expect the
doctor to respond violently to a patient. I felt disappointed, but I had little
to do since the physician was more experienced and I did not want to embarrass
him.
Evaluation
The
turn of the event presented a dilemma to me, and I was torn between speaking
out for the patient and reminding the senior psychiatrist about the importance
of the duty of care and handling patients ethically.
