Assignment Requirements
Your infographic should document your chosen film’s
history in pre-production, shooting, and post-production (editing). Rather than
only serving as a description of the production history of ONE
of Spielberg’s movies, your infographic should also be an analysis of
production history by addressing at least three (3) of the following questions:
- What
kind of economic and technical restraints (or benefits) contributed to the
financial success (or failure) of the film?
- What
kind of social and or artistic factors contributed to the financial
success (or failure) of the film?
- What
are the steps involved in creating a blockbuster film? Did your chosen
film follow these steps? Why (or why not) and how?
- How
does your chosen film impact the way movies are made and sold today?
- In
what ways is Spielberg considered a brand and how does branding come into
play when making or distributing a film?
- In
addition to being a movie director, Spielberg is also a producer, story
deviser, businessman, popular historian, Holocaust memorialist, educator,
and brand personification. How does Spielberg playing these roles continue
to develop within a synergistic approach that sets him and his film apart
from other filmmakers?
- Let’s
consider the film, Spielberg, and his company (or the studio he made the
movie under) to all be a business and economic institution. This being
said, how does the film you chose to research—as a business and financial
institution—operate in the history of cinema?
Your infographic should contain:
- Plenty
of examples in your answers.
- Citations
from at least three academic sources (peer-reviewed articles, books,
articles or chapters provided in class, etc.)
- At
least one picture (not video---360 picture is okay)
- At
least three clickable buttons with info about the film’s production
history (and addresses some of the questions above).
- You
must write at least 600 words total in your infographic.

Reconstruct The Production History of Raiders of the Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark is an Amerian
based movie directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Lawrence Kasdan. The
cast has Indiana Jones, who is the protagonist, and Marion Ravenwood, and
others. The movie has had some challenges and disputes in its production. For example,
there was supposed to be a natural attraction between Belloq and Marion; it was
supposed to be a real romantic triangle even though she knew he was evil to
some extend (Fernandez-Blanco et
al., 184). There was the need to have the cast
aside in the interest of getting the play to move fast. Also, Spielberg says
that “there were a lot of things that fell out of the script. Some of the
things that I wanted to shoot wound up in Temple Of Doom, like the mine-car
chase” (
